Moisture Related Flooring Failures -
Dispelling the Myths
Join us the first Thursday of April - - April 6, 2000 - - for TableTops, dinner, a raffle, and an interesting and informative presentation about moisture related flooring failures.
This program will cover the facts and fiction of moisture related flooring failures. Why it has been such a concern? Why the problem persists and is it actually getting worse? Mr. Higgins has been involved with waterproofing restoration and preservation of concrete and masonry since 1978. His involvement with vapor emission problems began in 1982, and was instrumental in identifying and clarifying the difference between water-vapor emission and waterproofing failure.
Learn what the speaker has identified and defined as the roles of alkali-silica reaction in adhesive and flooring failures. What is important about concrete chemical reactions and what elements effect the chemical reaction? Are moisture problems the majority of floor problems, or is waterproofing? What is vapor emission volume? What is vapor pressure?
Our speaker; Mr. Bob Higgins, Vice President of Sinak Corporation, is an active committee member of ASTM E6 (Performance of Building), and co-authored moisture testing protocol of ASTM E 1907 Standard. Mr. Higgins is the Chairman and Technical Liaison for ICRC, has authored the test curriculum for Hard Surface Inspector's study and certification program, and has been an instructor for AIA continuing education series Concrete and Moisture.
