ROW JOB WALK AND PROGRAM The Santa Clara Valley Chapters of The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and American Institute of Architects (AIA) have combined their meetings and would like to extend an invitation for you to join them on a very special SANTANA ROW site visit and program. "Santana Row "is the biggest construction project in Northern California. Mark your calendars for this joint meeting on May 9,2002,and come to enjoy a job walk, while the project is under construction, hosted hors d ’oeuvres,and an interesting program about what makes this mixed residential, retail, hotel, and restaurants project. We are also teaming up with other associations like the National Association of Women in Construction, and American Society of Professional Estimators. Site visit: Bring hard hats and wear closed toed shoes or preferably boots without high heels. Be prepared to walk through mud and up stairs, as grading is not complete and these structures are multiple story units. Park in the theater parking lot, across the street from the meeting location. Meeting location will be the parking lot of 400 South Winchester, San Jose at 3:00 PM.Program: Mr. Anthony Flanagan will discuss lessons learned due to the size and complexity of the Santana Row mixed-use project, as well as issues pertaining to design, management, entitlements, and construction strategies for large mixed-use developments. Santana Row combines 680,000 sq.ft. of retail including unique shops and restaurants, two hotels totaling 404 rooms, an art-house cinema, and 1,201 residential units. Woven into this will be a dynamic street life including a 1,500-foot main street with curb side landscaping, wide sidewalks, intimate seating areas, tree lined parks, fountain courtyards and plazas. Speaker: Anthony Flanagan, Vice President of Street Retail Inc, and Chief Development Officer of the Western Region for Federal Realty Investment Trust. Currently, Mr. Flanagan is heading the San Jose-based development team for the Trust ’s Phase I- $475.0 million Santana Row mixed-use community. In this capacity as VP and CDO, Mr. Flanagan directs and oversees all phases of development for Santana Row including planning, design and engineering. He has also received numerous professional awards, is a writer and a lecturer. Mr. Flanagan graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo having earned a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture with a focus on urban design.
