Thursday, February 7, 2002 The Ramada Inn Silicon Valley The Santa Clara Valley Chapter of The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) program for this month will be about The Uniform Drawing System constitutes eight modules, and they are Module 1 - Drawing Set Organization; Module 2 - Sheet Organization, Module 3 - Schedules; includes the American Institute of Architect’s CAD Layering Guidelines, and the Coast Guard’s Plotting Guidelines, as well as an introduction by the National Institute of Building Sciences, which are the basic elements of the U.S. National CAD Standard. Also included are Module 4 - Drafting Conventions; Module 5 - Terms and Abbreviations; Module 6 - Symbols; Module 7 - Notations; and Module 8 - Code Conventions, which has recently been adopted as part of the CAD Standard. This system has become a required tool for the large developers and owners like FedEx, San Jose Airport, State of Utah, and UPS, as well as many others. Join us and learn more about this system. John McCaffrey, immediate past Chairman of the Uniform Drawing System Program Task Team, will give a presentation on the National CAD Standard and Uniform Drawing System. McCaffrey is a self-employed Architect writing specifications for other architects, licensed in both California and Wisconsin. He attended The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and received a Bachelor of Architecture Degree, with post-graduate work in Business Administration at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. AIA/CES Learning Units: This program meets AIA/CES criteria. Participants will receive 1 hour of LUS (learning units), which also applies to 1 HSW (Health, Safety, & Welfare) hour.
