Please join your Santa Clara Valley chapter for a globe-encircling program on
landscape architecture. Our speaker will be Ms. Jacqueline (Jackie)
Schuette, Landscape Architect, licensed since 1978. We will be looking at
photos and drawings of projects ranging from a 60 acre master plan to
residential side yards; including an 11 mile horse and hiking trail, a school
playground, street corners and wildlife habitats.
Projects will be shown from around the world that indicate various aspects of
landscape architecture such as grading & drainage, lighting, structures,
paving, irrigation, plants, street furniture, bioswales and structural
soil. As a bonus, plant combinations will be shown that can be used where
you live - at home, at work, and in your community.
Jackie has influenced many projects, such as the hiking/biking trail on
Lanzarote, Canary Islands, and an eco-tourism destination in Gambia,
Africa. She co-wrote the guidelines for the San Jose Historical Museum
grounds, which are being followed today. Zoos around the country are
following her circulation research suggestions.
Ms. Schuette has been active in the community with San Jose Beautiful, San
Jose Historical Museum, San Jose Repertory Theatre, ASLA, Santa Cruz Mountains
Natural History Association, and the Silicon Valley Rainforest Coalition.
She had her own landscape architecture firm for twenty years and is currently
working at DES. Jackie would like to do more resort planning and animated
landscape architecture. She is also a published photographer and author
and a retail artist.
