Positive
Pressure Fire Testing
and Fire Door Assemblies
The Santa Clara Valley Chapter of The Construction Specifications Institute
(CSI) would like to extend an invitation for you to join them on the first Thursday of
March. Mark your calendars for March 1, 2001, and come to enjoy a dinner, raffle, and an
informative discussion on positive pressure fire door testing and its impact on design,
installation and inspection of fire door assemblies.
This program will explain and illustrate current fire door testing procedures, how the
recent positive pressure testing differs from the historic negative pressure testing and
what this means to those of us who specify, supply, install or inspect doors, frames and
hardware in fire assemblies.
Our speakers will be Mr. Bill Franz, Director of Operations for Best Access Systems in
Asia and Mr. Mike Rice, Architectural Services Representative for Best Access Systems in
Northern California.
Mr. Franz has 20 years experience in the distribution of architectural wood doors,
steel doors and frames, aluminum frames and architectural hardware and has been directly
involved with fire testing, code compliance issues, life safety, specification application
and field quality administration throughout his career. Mr. Franz is currently setting up
distribution for Best Access Systems throughout the Pacific Rim.
Mr. Rice works throughout Northern California as architectural specialist providing
hardware consultations and specification writing services to Architects.
