THE ENERGY SAVING POTENTIAL OF SKYLIGHTS

We would like to extend an invitation for you to join us on April 5, 2001. Come to enjoy a dinner and a very effective program about lighting and energy savings with skylights.

This presentation is richly illustrated with many photographs and drawings that show the concepts discussed in the program. The program begins with a discussion of the market share o skylights and their energy savings potential. Lighting quality concepts are discussed wit illustrative examples and design "rules of thumb." If time permits, the speaker will describe design concepts for the electric fighting system and the associated photo control system. SkyCalc is presented sequentially from its simplest application to more complex refinements. The program will conclude with the presentation of a SkyCalc model for a building that is created from descriptions of buildings provided by the attendees. As part of this model the speaker will show the effects of simple modifications on overall energy savings.

Our speaker; Mr. Ihab Elzeyadi, is an architect and architectural engineer with more than ten years of experience in the design, research, and management of commercial facilities. As a project manager at Heschong Mahone Group, a consulting firm in Sacramento, California he has been involved in many projects studying energy and buildings, specifically energy impacts o lighting and day lighting. He is currently working on the new Skylighting Guidelines for the Northeast. Mr. Elzeyadi holds a B-Arch., a Masters degree in Architecture from Penn State University, and is a Ph.D. Candidate in Architecture at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
